A young man has come under fire from China's netizens after beating a female sanitation worker for not letting his dog defecate in the middle of the road.
据上传照片的一名微博用户表示，雷姓男子对环卫大妈高声大喊："你们环卫工的贱命还比不上我的狗金贵！"
According a Weibo user who posted pictures of the scene, Lei was heard yelling, "The cheap life of you sanitation workers can't even compare with my dogs!"
警方已经对该事件进行了干预和调查。雷姓男子已经承认殴打女环卫工是"错误行为"，并在警察面前向她道了歉。
Police has investigated and intervened. The man, surnamed Lei, has admitted his beating the woman as "wrongdoing", and apologized to the woman in the presence of the police.
此外，该雷姓男子还向这名女环卫工支付了1100元人民币（约合162美元）的医药费、以及500元人民币（约合74美元）的误工费。
Lei also paid the sanitation worker 1,100 yuan (around 162 USD) as medical fees and 500 yuan (around 74 USD) for holding up her work.
随着网络上对雷姓男子的批评之声愈演愈烈，一名自称是其朋友的男子发文称，当时是女环卫工先动的手。
As criticism mounts up online, another man claiming to be Lei's friend posted a message, saying that the sanitation worker was the first to strike.
但是在接受《人民日报》的采访时，这名女环卫工反驳了她先动手的说法。
In an interview with People's Daily, the female sanitation worker refuted the claim that she had been the first to attack.
她说道："当时他的狗没有栓链子，在路中间大便。我把狗赶走了，想要把路面清理干净。"
"His dog was unleashed, and pooped in the middle of the road. I drove it away, and wanted to clean up," she said.
据她表示，就在这时雷姓男子出现了，并开始辱骂她。随后他们两人陷入了争吵，男子开始动手打人。
According to her, this was when the man came up to scold her. They got into dispute, and the man started hitting her.
