Kawhi Leonard has now scored 30+points in four consecutive games. The last Spurs player to accomplish this feat? Tim Duncan in 2003-04.
Kawhi putting up 30+ point games left and right. Kawhi is still a "system" player right ?
Leonard scored 34 points on 12-of-17 shooting, including 2 of 3 attempts from the 3-point line, and added seven rebounds, five assists and one steal. He worked well in tandem with power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who finished with 29 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
"We're not where we want to be, that's all I know," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said, when asked his assessment of the team through 41 games. "No team is where they want to be, maybe Golden State is, but the rest of us are trying to get there."
Leonard, who has been named the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year each of the past two seasons, characteristically downplayed his big offensive night.
"I'm just glad that we got the win," he said. "I just try to approach every game like it's Game 7 in the Finals. You don't care about the numbers. You just want to win."
